What is MakersDeck?
MakersDeck is a browser-based learning suite for electrical and electronics engineering. Every subject pairs short, diagram-led lessons with a live simulator — DC circuit nodes, AC phasors, semiconductor curves, PLC ladder logic — so you can change a value, watch the waveform, and feel the physics.
MakersDeck is a syllabus-driven experience with a growing list of subjects, a SPICE-grade circuit simulator, a PLC ladder/FBD simulator with plant-builder HMI, and a focused toolkit of calculators.
Features
- Subjects, taught visually — Each topic page has Learn, Example, Simulate, and Quiz stages. Learn pages lead with diagrams and equations.
- SPICE circuit simulator — Drag-and-drop schematic editor with anchor-driven wire routing, V/I probes, ngspice transient/AC/DC analysis, and shareable links.
- PLC ladder + plant builder — Build LAD or FBD programs with contacts, coils, timers, and counters; run them against a live HMI plant view.
- Focused calculators — Ohm's Law, reactance, transient response, transformer turns, impedance triangle, Bode plots, resistor/capacitor/inductor colour codes, BJT and FET bias points.
Why we built it
Most online electronics resources fall into two camps: gorgeous but static reference sites, or bare-bones simulators that assume you already know the material. Neither helps a student build intuition.
MakersDeck is the in-between: short structured lessons that flow into a working simulator, with quizzes that mark your answers and remember your progress.
Who makes MakersDeck
MakersDeck is built by Uma Kandan, a production engineer turned educator. Uma spent 10 years in industry as a Production Engineer — keeping real machines, drives, and control panels running — and then 25 years teaching Electronics Engineering at technical school and college level.
Every lesson, simulator, and calculator on this site comes out of that classroom experience: the topics students trip over, the diagrams that finally make a concept click, and the hands-on practice that a lecture alone can't give. If a page here explains something in a particular order, it's because three decades of students showed what works.
Our values
- Visual first. Diagrams before paragraphs, equations rendered with KaTeX.
- Privacy by default. Your circuits, programs, quiz progress, and notes stay on your device in IndexedDB. We don't operate user accounts and never see what you build.
- Free, no sign-up. Every subject, every simulator, every calculator — free to use, no account required, no paywalls.
- Accuracy matters. Every formula is verified, every simulator is tested against SPICE references.
- Built incrementally. We ship subjects as they're ready rather than waiting for a big-bang launch.
