〜 Half-Wave Rectifier

DC output, ripple voltage, filter capacitor — with live diode simulation

Inputs

Vdc (no filter)
Vm (peak)
Ripple Voltage
Ripple Frequency
Ripple Factor
Efficiency

Diode Simulation

DIODE ON — Current Flowing
Vs D C RL + Vout
Output:
AC Input
Rectified Output
Positive half-cycle: Diode is forward-biased → conducts → current flows through RL → output follows the AC positive swing
🚫 Negative half-cycle: Diode is reverse-biased → blocks current → no conduction → output = 0V (capacitor holds charge if fitted)

📐 Formula Reference

Vm = Vs × √2 (peak voltage)

Vdc = Vm / π = 0.318 × Vm (no filter)

Ripple Vr ≈ Vdc / (f × C × RL)  |  Ripple factor = 1.21

Efficiency = 40.6%  |  Ripple freq = supply freq (50/60 Hz)
